About The Series

The new young adult fantasy series, The Guardians of Elemental Magic, was written to be both entertaining and educational. It is geared towards young people of color interested in pursuing careers in the Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math (S.T.E.A.M) Fields.

The artist and author, Jayde Frederick, is passionate about encouraging and inspiring minorities to pursue these careers as well as increasing the visibility of minorities in STEAM in the media. While it is meant to be a fun and entertaining read, mature themes are found throughout, as fiction, no matter how fantastical, will always reflect an aspect of reality.

The first book is available now and the funds will be used to support the continuation of the series.

About the Author

Jayde Frederick is currently a third year medical student in Southern California. Before medical school, her passion for science, technology, engineering, art, math, and medicine (S.T.E.A.M) led her to obtain a B.S. in Biomedical Sciences from Oakwood University. The Queen’s Cure is her debut novel, the culmination of a lifelong love of reading and storytelling. Her love of fantasy stories, passion for S.T.E.A.M, and afro-carribbean heritage all play a role to heavily influence the worlds she creates. She loves spending time with God, her family, and friends. She also enjoys musicals, talk shows, chai, spicy red mango, and coconut tarts. She is the illustrator for the Nyla Nova children’s book series, host of The Scene in STEAM: A Conversation Series, and artist and creator of xxSTEAM Studios.
